OUGD502: Final Logo

Above is my final logo, at long last! I have found this task extremely difficult to brand myself as I still do not see myself as a graphic designer more a design student! However, I am happy with the logo, my only worry was a butterfly is quite girly. I have asked my peers for feedback on the logo and they liked it and thought it was different. My logo has a lot of concepts behind it, my name 'Vanessa' is a latin name meaning butterfly, I began looking into the symbolism behind butterfly and found that it suited me. One symbolic meaning behind the butterfly is personal transformation which reflects how far I feel I have come since starting at Leeds College of Art. I have grown up and I feel I have gone through a personal transformation as a designer and a person.

I wanted to use a hexagon in my logo, as I draw inspiration from nature and geometry, a hexagon is one of the geometric shapes that occur in nature. Found in the formation of honeycomb it is associated with bees and their co-operation and hard-working natures.  Other meanings of hexagons are communication, balance, union, equality, perfection, reliability and dependability. I have used Brandon Grotesque as my font choice which is a really nice rounded typeface which carries distinctively soft curves that give it a sense of friendliness.

I feel the logo does reflect me as a designer and as an individual, I draw inspiration from natural surroundings and geometry. I tend to produce clean, minimal design work and tend to be a perfectionist and work well under pressure.

I wrote a list of concepts and ideas behind the logo to help with decision making!
